ORTHODONTICS
We correct dental malocclusions with fixed, removable and clear appliances, for a more beautiful smile and better chewing function.
It is the specialist branch of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of skeletal and dental disharmonies.
Its aim is to create a pleasant smile and a correct occlusion.
The orthodontic diagnosis is highly personalised, as are the therapeutic options available.
Our team, thanks to high specialisation and expertise, can provide the most suitable and state-of-the-art treatments capable of achieving excellent clinical results.
It is advisable to have a first orthodontic visit around the age of 5.
INTERCEPTIVE ORTHODONTICS:
It deals, in the growing patient, with intercepting abnormalities in the shape, size and position of the jaw bones so that early intervention (approximately between 5 and 9 years of age) can be carried out and resolved promptly.
If not intercepted and corrected, these alterations can cause respiratory, chewing or speech disorders in the patient, as well as an unfavourable aesthetic appearance.
This is a pathway that not all children need: the purpose of the orthodontic visit will be to determine whether they need it or not.
FIXED ORTHODONTICS:
It focuses on aligning the teeth correctly and providing a correct occlusion.
In most cases it is a therapy carried out once tooth replacement is complete (with all permanent teeth present), in order to guide each tooth into its final position, also harmonising the patient’s facial aesthetics.
ORTHODONTICS WITH CLEAR ALIGNERS:
This is one of the most requested treatments by patients for comfort, aesthetics and practicality.
The treatment is extremely individualised and highly technological: with the help of digital software it is possible to preview the final results.
To resolve the patient’s malocclusion, a series of clear aligners are made, which must be removed during meals and for oral hygiene procedures, but which guarantee excellent aesthetics and a predictable achievement of the desired movements.
Why undergo orthodontic treatment?
Aesthetics: A beautiful, aligned smile increases self-esteem and improves the overall appearance of the face.
Functionality: A correct bite facilitates chewing, swallowing and speech, preventing long-term problems.
Oral health: Aligned teeth are easier to clean, reducing the risk of cavities and gum disease.
Which problems can orthodontics correct?
Crooked or crowded teeth: When teeth do not have enough space to erupt properly.
Overlapping teeth: When one tooth overlaps another.
Missing teeth: When one or more teeth are absent.
Open bite: When the upper and lower teeth do not touch when the mouth is closed.
Deep bite: When the upper teeth excessively cover the lower teeth.
Crossbite: When the upper teeth are positioned inside the lower teeth.
Sagittal discrepancies: when the upper teeth are very protruding or when the lower teeth are positioned outside the upper teeth
How does orthodontic treatment work?
Orthodontic treatment varies depending on the specific case and can last from a few months to several years. In general, it includes the following phases:
1. Diagnosis: The orthodontist will carry out an in-depth analysis of your smile, taking dental impressions and X-rays.
2. Treatment planning: A personalised treatment plan will be developed, choosing the appliance best suited to your needs.
3. Placement of the appliance: The appliance will be fitted to the teeth and periodically adjusted by the orthodontist.
4. Retention phase: At the end of treatment, a retainer will be applied to maintain the results achieved.
